A Return to the Bohlsen Gallery

This isn’t Rich’s first showcase at the East Islip Public Library — it’s a welcomed return. “I am privileged to be invited back to the East Islip Public Library to hang my updated ‘At the Water’s Edge’ Photo Exhibit,” says LaBella. “These prints, ranging in size from 60×20 metal prints to 15×15 framed & matted prints, are on display. I hope my work brings you as much enjoyment as it gave me in composing and capturing the beauty of this area.”

With his signature eye for composition and lighting, LaBella’s work captures both the tranquility and vitality of Long Island’s waterways. His exhibit offers a thoughtfully curated mix of large-format metal prints and intimate framed pieces, creating a gallery experience that appeals to both art lovers and casual visitors alike.

Exploring Long Island’s Nautical Charm

Rich’s artistic focus is deeply rooted in his love for the coastal environment. “I like to shoot mostly nautical themes,” he explains. “I concentrate on our shorelines and bays, yachting, bridges, wetlands, lighthouses, wildlife, flowers, and unique things that make living near and on the water a special experience.”

His photographs reflect a deep appreciation for the subtle moods of Long Island’s waterfront — from the stillness of dawn breaking over calm waters to the golden light shimmering across the bay at sunset. Each image invites the viewer to pause and connect with the moment, to feel the salt air and hear the quiet rhythm of the tide.
