If you’re a Long Island or NYC photographer, chances are you’ve got a treasure trove of images sitting quietly on your hard drive. Beautiful, soulful, jaw-dropping works that deserve to be admired — not just stored. And yet, getting those images “out there” can feel like a full-time job on its own. Marketing, printing, shipping, selling — who has the time when you’d rather be out shooting?
This is exactly why my business partner, Joanne Henig, and I started Long Island Photo Gallery back in 2007. Back then, our mission was simple: create a space for local photographers to share their work, connect with collectors, and feel part of something bigger. This was before social media hit the internet. We started as an online dot-com business but eventually moved into physical gallery space in Islip, New York, which is located on Long Island. Having a storefront allowed us to meet our community face-to-face, host art shows, and give photography the spotlight it deserves.
After about 10 years in the physical location, the world changed. The pandemic hit, and it was either renew the lease or pivot. We knew it was time to rethink how to share art and help art photographers across the US. That moment in time became the catalyst for growth, and Photo Art Pavilion was born.
Photo Art Pavilion is the natural evolution of Long Island Photo Gallery. We took everything we learned from running a successful local gallery — the customer relationships, the technical know-how, the love for photography — and built it into something bigger and better.
Today, Photo Art Pavilion gives photographers everywhere (yes, starting with our Long Island and NYC artists!) the tools to:
Launch their own online photo gallery in under 5 minutes.
Protect their image copyrights while selling confidently.
Have every order printed, produced, and shipped free to their customers worldwide.
Keep 100% commission on every sale.
Enjoy marketing support, open calls, exhibits, tours, and workshops.
Basically, we’ve taken the heavy lifting off your shoulders so you can focus on creating.
Here’s the thing: timing matters. The holiday season is one of the busiest times of year for art sales. People are looking for meaningful, unique gifts. And what’s more personal and memorable than fine art photography?
But here’s the catch — you can’t wait until December to get started. Building your online gallery now means your work is ready to be discovered when holiday shopping kicks into high gear. Imagine the thrill of knowing your photography is being unwrapped as a gift this season — whether on Long Island, in New York City, or anywhere across the globe.
We’re not some faceless tech company. We’re Long Islanders through and through! Our roots in Long Island Photo Gallery shaped who we are. We’ve seen firsthand how photographers thrive when given the right platform, encouragement, and visibility. Photo Art Pavilion isn’t just about selling art — it’s about building a community where photographers feel supported, motivated, and celebrated.
Let’s be real: those images aren’t doing much good sitting on a hard drive. They deserve light. They deserve an audience. They deserve buyers who will treasure them.
And you deserve the pride (and income!) that comes from seeing your work hanging on someone’s wall.
So, stop waiting for the “perfect time.” The perfect time is right now.
Setting up your online gallery with Photo Art Pavilion takes less than five minutes. We’ve made it simple, secure, and seamless — because I know firsthand how busy photographers are.
