Long Island Photo Gallery showed off its new ‘digs’ and officially opened its doors to the general public in Islip, NY on Friday, July 13, 2012. The new location, at 467 Main Street, is home to more than 40 Long Island photography fine artists.
Friday’s Grand Opening exhibit featured 10 finalists from the year-long 50/50 Competition $eries entries. Entries came in throughout the year from around the globe, with one of the finalists from Mexico City, Mexico. His attendance at the Grand Opening of the Long Island Photo Gallery & Portrait Studios helped to legitimize a well deserved stake in the ground for the fine art photography community on an international level.
The Grand Opening was well attended, with over 150 friends, family and fans of LIPG participating in the viewing of some magnificent fine art. In addition to the general art photography being displayed, attendees were asked to cast their vote for “Best In Photo” of the 10 finalists from the year-long 50/50 Competition $eries entries. In the end, the winning photograph went to Long Island Photo Gallery member and fine art photographer Mike Lang. Mike’s entry, “Naples Sunset”, was well received by the voting public. Mike won the Grand Prize valued at $500.
The 50/50 Competition $eries exhibit will be on display through July 31st, 2012. Come visit the Long Island Photo Gallery to view these stunning images up close and to offer your good wishes to co-curators Joanne Henig & Jessica Hirschmann.
